Course summary
Develop your technical and creative art skills, as well as learn more about the history of art. By researching the work of historical and contemporary artists, you will gain a firm theoretical basis upon which to build your practice. Over the space of two years, you will develop a range of skills and refine areas of specific interest, considering and appreciating tone, color, form, rhythm, scale, space, and texture. Over the space of two years, you will understand the basics of visual language by working in processes such as ceramics, drawing, painting, mixed media, and 3D sculpture. The first year is very much focused on skills development, so expect lots of practical workshops and experimentation. In the second year, you will naturally work more independently and will have the freedom to work with particular materials and processes. During your two years of study, you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit career fairs, and attend workshops, trips, and visits.
