Course summary
Politics is the course for you if you enjoy discussing topical issues currently in the news. You will learn to critically analyze and evaluate British, American, and Ideological politics. There will be an emphasis on developing your writing, reading, and independent research skills. You will learn about the nature and sources of the British Constitution, the structure and role of Parliament, the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the judiciary, devolution, and the European Union. You will also learn about the constitutional framework of the US government, the US Congress, Senate, and Supreme Court, democracy and participation, referendums, political parties, pressure groups, and civil rights, and you will study Liberalism, Conservatism, Socialism, and other ideologies.
