The A Level version of this course involves the study of linguistics and English literature. Students will learn how to analyse a range of English language texts; they will produce their own creative and evaluative writing in response to set briefs. Students will learn how to analyse a range of English language texts: spoken language texts, non-fiction texts, plays, poetry and prose. Students will also learn how to produce their own creative writing from a stimulus and write an evaluative commentary about the process.

This two-year A Level course is assessed over two written exams and one independent project: 1. Remembered Places; 2. Imagined Worlds; 3. Poetic Voices; 4. Writing about Society; 5. Critical Commentary; 6. Dramatic Encounters; 7. Making Connections. A range of texts are studied across all genres.
