The A level course enables a deep engagement with the styles and characteristics of key choreographers and areas of study. There is a keen focus on practical exploration through the generation of choreography and performance work. The course is designed to enable students to develop as dance artists that are critical thinkers with an understanding of the social and historical context of professional repertoire.
Students who have not achieved Grade 4 in English and Maths join the resit group which is taught on Wednesday afternoons as a part of the Curriculum Enrichment Programme. Resits are offered in both the November and Summer examination sessions. Students who wish to improve their English or Maths GCSE grades can also join the resit group. Upper grade 5 or above in GCSE dance and grade 4 or above in English. Vocational dance certificates in ballet or contemporary dance or other relevant experience may be considered if GCSE dance has not been taken.
