Biology

Course summary

Biology is the study of life and living organisms. The course emphasises the way in which biologists work and the contributions of biology to society. A Level biology covers a broad range of topics chosen to allow progression to a wider range of biological courses at higher education: biochemistry and molecular biology; animal and plant physiology; genetics or microbiology. The course provides lots of opportunity for practical work and establishes contexts for How Science Works. Classes take place in spacious, well equipped laboratories, and involve practical sessions, field work and visits to places of scientific interest. Biology staff provide regular drop in support sessions throughout the year and ICT is used to support teaching.
