For those wishing to work in these sectors, our qualification provides a solid foundation of knowledge, practical skills and experience. This course prepares the student to meet the diverse needs of the care sectors, as well as prepare them for the challenges they could face in higher education, apprenticeships or employment. A look at the course content This Level 3 Extended Certificate qualification has six units in total. For each of the units, there is a focus on current public health trends and issues as well as the growing strain placed on the health and social care sector and practitioners who work within it. We look at current news features on a national and local level and use case studies to try and replicate real-life scenario situations. You will study: Unit 24: Public Health (coursework) Unit 13: Sexual Health and Reproduction (coursework) Unit 4: Anatomy and Physiology (exam) Unit 1: Building Positive Relationships(coursework) Unit 2: Equality and Diversity (exam) Unit 3: Health, Safety and Security (exam)
At least five GCSE passes or equivalent in five different subjects. There is a strong emphasis on science and biology as well as an emphasis on written communication both through exams and coursework.
The coursework units are assessed internally as well as being standardized and verified to ensure accuracy. The exam units are externally assessed through written exam papers including short and long essay questions based on a variety of case studies in health, social, and childcare settings. This provides a fairly equal balance of written assignments as well as exam preparation and revision.
