Course summary

Units of Study are: Telling Stories - what is studied: Remembered Places - The Study of an AQA anthology of fiction and non- fiction texts to consider the representation of a particular place. Imagined Worlds – The study of a novel to explore the point of view and genre in prose. Poetic Voices – The study of a collection of poems from a particular poet to explore and assess how a poetic voice is captured through particular forms and what is the function of the poetic voice. Methods of language analysis are integrated into the activities Exploring Conflict- what is studied: Writing about society – considering the role of the individual in society, and re-creating aspects of the text studied. Critical commentary – evaluating own writing through methods of language analysis. Dramatic encounters – exploring the nature conflict in a play. Making Connections - Non-exam assessment: This is a personal investigation that explores a specific technique or theme in both literary and non-literary discourse (2,500–3,000 words)
