Course summary
The cultures of Hispanic countries will be explored and students are advised to visit a country where Spanish is spoken. Students recently took part in a trip to Madrid where they had the opportunity to utilise their language skills and experience the culture of the capital city. We have previously run trips to The Cornerhouse Cinema in Manchester to a Latin American film festival. We aim to tie the syllabus as closely as possible to the world of work and the world in general, studying various topics including: - Aspects of Spanish speaking society - for example: the changing role of the family - Artistic culture in the Spanish speaking world - for example: Spanish cinema - Aspects of political life in Spanish speaking world - for example: trade unions We also study literature and film over the two year course and provide an opportunity for weekly individual speaking practice.
