Why choose this course? This Level 3 Cambridge Technical provides opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers and prepares students for progression to higher education. The course combines compulsory and optional units some of which are assessed by an externally set exam. There are also some centre-assessed, coursework units. What will I study? The course combines both practical sports lessons and theory study. The units you will study are: Year 12 ● Investigating Human Body Systems (compulsory). ● Sports Coaching (compulsory). Year 13 ● Sports organization (compulsory). ● Optional units include: performance analysis, sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports injury and rehabilitation.
At least five GCSE passes or equivalent in five different subjects. You won't need any previous qualifications to apply for this course, though Level 2 BTEC Sport is desirable.
You will take two external exams - one in Year 12 and one in Year 13 and these account for 40% of your grade. The remainder of your grade will be decided by coursework pieces (60%). You will complete one piece of coursework in Year 12 and two pieces in Year 13.
