Mathematics (Further)
Course summary
Further Mathematics is an A Level qualification that broadens and deepens the Mathematics covered in A Level Mathematics and must be studied alongside it. It is intellectually stimulating and challenging and helps to develop and enhance a student’s reasoning and analysis skills. It also assists them in becoming more independent learners and achieving a top grade in a single Mathematics A Level, helping them better prepare for university courses or work in scientific or mathematical fields. Students who study Further Mathematics complete an extended core maths and decision maths syllabus, alongside the core, statistical and mechanics content of the standard A Level Mathematics course. At the end of Year 13, students will have two full A Level qualifications – an A Level in Mathematics and a second A Level in Further Mathematics.
