● It develops valuable interpretative and analytical skills - the ability to read critically, handle evidence, develop and defend a line of argument, and present a case systematically and clearly. ● It develops the ability to understand and express complex ideas. ● It helps understand what motivates people and shapes their belief systems, and so it encourages mutual tolerance, something increasingly needed in our multicultural society.
