Assessment
All units are assessed by examination at the end of two years. Topics are organized into 3 papers, each topic being tested only once, however, research methods and issues and debates are embedded as themes across all papers as well as topics in their own right. There will be 3 papers. Each has equal weight and lasts for 2 hours. Students are tested on knowledge and understanding (AO1), application to real-life and research methods (AO2), and evaluation (AO3). Evaluation marks and research methods marks make up a bigger share of the total marks than the other assessment objectives. There is no assessed coursework but students are expected to carry out practical work to help them understand research methodology and to become familiar with data analysis.
