Unit 1: The British Empire: 1857–1957 Written exam of 2 hours 30 minutes. Worth 40% of A Level. Unit 2: The Birth of the USA: 1760–1801 Written exam of 2 hours 30 minutes, based on sources and own knowledge. Worth 40% of A Level. Unit 3: Historical Investigation Historical Enquiry (NEA) of 4,500 words analysing a historical issue relating to the Civil Rights movement, which will be chosen from a variety of approved questions, set by the department. This is marked out of 40 and is worth 20% of A Level.
