Weave your way through fashion illustration, machine and hand embroidery, appliqué, embellishment, surface pattern design and print techniques. A Level Textiles is an exciting, dynamic and challenging subject where students are encouraged to perform to their maximum potential using high quality specialist resources and equipment with help and support from highly trained staff.
A minimum of 5x Grade 5s, including Art & Design / Textiles Technology OR portfolio of work.
• 60% an internally assessed unit • 40% an externally set examination paper Students learn how to work through the design process; completing visual and topical research, examining the work of other artists and designers to inspire their own work, experimenting with a range of ideas before developing work to a final piece. As well as working with traditional textile media, students also experiment with mixed media, for example, stitching into recycled plastic bags for a fashion garment.
