Course summary
This is a practical, work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and coursework based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands. As well as learning about employment in the care sector, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to start a valuable career in this area. You will need to develop good study skills including the ability to research independently and meet deadlines. You will be required to source a variety of work placements, and there are two exams each year. Mandatory and vocational units are subject to change but will include approximately six/seven units each year. Year 2 – Extended Diploma • Course work units: - Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs - Promoting Public Health - Infection Prevention & Control - Physiological Disorders and their Care - Work Experience in Health and Social Care (+ 100 hours of placements) • Exam units: - Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Social Care - Enquiries into current research in Health and Social Care
