Assessment

All IB Diploma students undertake an Extended Essay on a topic of their choice, to develop skills in independent research, critical evaluation and formal written communication. Students spend around 40 hours on it spread over several months, and have around 3 hours one-to-one contact time with an academic supervisor, who provides advice and guidance. All the skills involved in preparing and completing an Extended Essay are highly transferable, not least commonly providing a focus for university application personal statements and in competitive interviews.
