Course summary
This is the fastest-growing A-level course aimed at students who have a passion for the subject and are considering studying Maths or Maths-related subjects at university. Students will have five hours of directed teaching each week. What areas are covered by the course? Further Pure Maths 1: Proof, Complex numbers, Matrices, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, Further vectors. Further Pure Maths 2: Complex numbers, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, Polar coordinates, Hyperbolic functions, Differential equations. Further Statistics: Linear regression, Discrete statistical distributions – Poisson, Probability density functions, Mean and Variance of random variables, Correlation and Spearmann’s Rank, Hypothesis testing, Chi-squared test. Discrete Mathematics: Packing algorithms, Graph definitions, Prim and Kruskal’s algorithms to find minimum spanning trees, Dijkstra and Floyd’s algorithm to find shortest path, Route Inspection, Travelling Salesman algorithm, Critical path analysis, Linear programming.
