Course summary
A Level in Geography aims to encourage students to develop a range of essential skills for Higher Education and the world of work through content which is relevant to any citizen of the planet in the 21st century. Through exciting topics students will understand the nature of physical and human geography whilst unpicking the debates surrounding contemporary challenges facing the world today. WHAT WILL I STUDY? This course will excite students' mind, challenge student’s perceptions and stimulate investigative and analytical skills. This course will reflect the World today looking at both physical and human aspects of geography. From exploring current landscapes and the systems/processes which operate within them along with issues surrounding them to engaging critically with real-world issues and find out how these shape and change places and the impacts upon the people who live there. Students will take part in debates that shape the world we live in and that are at the forefront of current affairs. Students will also complete an independent investigation (comprising of 3000 words) on an aspect of Geography of their choice.
