Course summary
This is a course for students who enjoy discussing their reading and writing about the texts they study. It involves studying the texts in the context of historical development and the cultural expectations of human relationships down the ages. This is a broad and accessible course that is regarded highly by universities. Your studies will ensure you are prepared for any Literature course at degree level but equally it will give you analytical and writing skills that can benefit your future career. Year One All students will study: Othello’, ‘Atonement’ or ‘The Go Between’, Pre 1900 Poetry Year 2 New texts you will study will come from a section called: Modern Times: Literature from 1945 to the present day Core texts could include , ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood, A play: either ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ or ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’, Poetry: ‘Skirrid Hill’ by Owen Sheers
