Course summary
The course is concerned with the creation and appreciation of theatre, involving your own work, the study of written theatrical texts and the analysis of theatrical performances seen. There is also exploration of theoretical writings on the subject. The course demands practical, creative and communication skills. You will extend your ability to create drama either in a performing or production role. You will also be required to write about drama and to develop your powers of analysis to become an informed critic. The primary aim of the course is to encourage an interest in and an enjoyment of theatre. This will involve an understanding of a variety of theatrical forms and will include the performance of theatrical pieces both from existing plays and the creation of original pieces.
