Health Studies
Course summary
This is a practical, work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and coursework based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands. As well as learning about employment in the care sector, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to start a valuable career in this area. You will need to develop good study skills including the ability to research independently and meet deadlines. You will be required to source a variety of work placements, and there are two exams each year. Mandatory and vocational units are subject to change but will include approximately six/seven units each year. Year 1 – Foundation Diploma • Course work units: - Meeting individual care and support needs - Policy in Health and Social Care - Principles of Safe Practice - Nutritional Health • Exam units include: - Human Lifespan Development - Working in Health & Social Care (+ 100 hours of placement)
