Component 1: Drama and Poetry pre-1900 Study of three texts: a play (A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen), a poetry collection (Selected Poems by Christina Rossetti and a Shakespeare play (Hamlet). Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes. 60 marks. Closed text. 40% of A Level. EXTERNALLY ASSESSED. Component 2: Content of Comparative and Contextual Study Topic: The Gothic Study of two whole texts - The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter and Dracula by Bram Stoker. The exam will include a critical examination of an unseen passage from a Gothic text. Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes. 60 marks. Closed text. 40% of A Level. EXTERNALLY ASSESSED. Non-exam assessment: Literature post-1900 Study of three texts: one poetry text, one prose text and a play. All texts must have been published or performed in 1900 or later and at least one of the texts must have been published or performed in 2000 or later Coursework: 40 marks. 20% of A Level. INTERNALLY ASSESSED and EXTERNALLY MODERATED
