Course summary
It is vitally important that students understand the importance of exercise in modern-day society. This course is designed to enable learners to apply their knowledge both theoretically and practically. There is an emphasis on encouraging students to develop their knowledge and apply it to workplace scenarios that are relevant to the sports industry today. The Sport BTEC uses a combination of assessment styles to give students the confidence that they can apply their knowledge in a variety of different scenarios to succeed in the workplace. Students will explore a variety of different topics across 4 units, including how the Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular and Respiratory systems function, and the fundamentals of the Energy systems. In contrast, Sport BTEC will teach you how to assess a person’s fitness and lifestyle through the collection of data, and how to plan appropriate training programmes to take into account individual needs. This course teaches a range of topics, giving students a solid foundation for further study, or a career in sport and exercise. Sport (BTEC) is a vocational course that teaches students the knowledge required to pursue a career within the sport industry. Students will also be able to develop the skills for a range of sport-related pathways from sports coaching to sports centre management. Students can choose to study sports at university or continue to many other possible routes, including apprenticeships and employment. Students can go on to work at the cutting edge of elite sports, supporting top athletes as sports physiotherapists, psychologists, sports therapists, coaches, sports scientists and many other roles.
