Mathematics
Course summary
A-level Maths relies heavily on a sound understanding of GCSE Mathematics, in particular algebraic topics. This is then developed very quickly and used to introduce other areas of mathematical study, including sequencing and series, cubic and higher order polynomial equations, calculus, coordinate geometry as well as graphs and functions. In addition, students will also study Mechanics and Statistics. Both of these areas apply the core content and look at mathematical modelling within contextual scenarios. In Mechanics, students will study the motion of particles, dynamics, and kinematics. Within Statistics, students will study statistical modelling, the Normal Distribution, probability and representation as well as analysis of statistical information, including large data sets.
