Assessment
The Geography A-level is comprised of four assessments, three of which are written examinations, and one is a piece of coursework. • Paper 1: Assessment of Dynamic Landscapes, Physical Systems & Sustainability This is a written exam, lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes. This exam is worth 30% of the course certification. • Paper 2: Assessment of Dynamic Places, Human Systems and Geopolitics This is a written exam, lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes. This exam is worth 30% of the course certification. • Paper 3: Synoptic Investigation of a Contemporary Geographical Issue This is a written exam, lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes. This exam is worth 20% of the course certification. • Coursework This is a coursework assignment. Students will complete an individual investigation which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue developed by the student, about any part of the specification. This coursework piece is worth 20% of the course certification.
