Course summary
You love sport and exercise but would like to learn about the science behind them with subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology and Psychology. Throughout the two-year course, you’ll cover a wide range of subjects that will broaden your scientific understanding about sport. You will study topics including: Anatomy, Psychology, Sports Coaching, Fitness Training and Testing, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Exercise for Specific Groups, Sports Injuries, Sports Massage and a Research Project. As well as classroom-based learning, you will also visit universities, sports centres, deliver practical sessions in local schools and visit venues that will add an all-important practical element to your studies. You will experience a wide range of individuals who currently work within the field of sports science. This involves a wide range of trips and guest speakers which include e.g. Exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, university lecturers and biomechanists.
