This course allows for a complete understanding of the processes of development across all life stages and considers the emotional, psychological, intellectual and social factors that will affect growth at each stage. The course will also give you a broad insight into health and social care professions with opportunities to undertake work experience in these areas. You will also develop a critical lenses when looking at psychological theories of complex physical and mental disorders. Year 12 Unit 1 – Human Life Span and Development: 25% (External assessment) Unit 5 – Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs: 25% (Coursework) Year 13 Unit 2 – Working in Health and Social Care: 25% (External assessment) Unit 11 – Psychological Perspectives: 25% (Coursework) What can I do at the end of the course? Health and social care is a respected BTEC Level 3 qualification which gives you a broad range or knowledge into how health care settings are run, basic patient care and expectations, and an overview of growth and development across the life span. The course presents you with vital real world skills and experience in a health and social care setting. It is a wide ranging course that aims to develop your skills in many specialisms within the health and social care field. Students who study Health and Social Care at Level 3 can go on to study midwifery, nursing, child nursing, mental health nursing, primary school teaching and other careers a like at higher education. This course equips students with the knowledge and skill base to study Health and Social Care at a higher level and prepares them for careers in many industries.
You will need to achieve a Level 2 Pass or above in Health & Social Care BTEC OR have a Grade 4 or above in Maths and English Language GCSE.
