Core Maths is a Level 3 qualification worth half an A-Level, designed to explore GCSE level maths skills in context. For example, Core maths students apply percentage skills to contexts such as the gender pay gap, inflation, student loans and tax. The course has been designed to maintain and develop real-life, day-to-day maths skills, such as using spreadsheets, budgeting, financial maths and project management. It is designed for students who want to keep up their valuable maths skills, but are not planning to take A Level Maths. We follow the AQA 2B route, on critical path and risk analysis, using probability in context to consider insurance and risk.
