Course summary
Students will complete a series of practical tasks set in a work related scenario and complete written assignments set and marked internally. Students will also complete two externally set tasks under controlled conditions, which will be assessed by BTEC Pearson. The Foundation Diploma counts as one option choice but is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels, which means it will be worth more UCAS points; for example, a Merit on this course carries the same UCAS points (48) as a Distinction on the BTEC Extended Certificate course or an ‘A’ Grade at A Level. The course consists of four mandatory units and two optional units: Mandatory Units: Unit 1 Investigating Practitioners’ work (Controlled written assessment - Externally assessed) Unit 2 Developing Skills & Techniques for live Performance (Practical and coursework - Internally assessed) Unit 3 Group Performance Workshop (Practical task and written log - Externally assessed) Unit 4 Performing Arts in the Community (Practical and coursework - Internally assessed) Optional Units* - the two optional units are adapted each year to suit the needs of each intake of learners (Practical and coursework - Internally assessed)
