Coursework—60% Practical Portfolio Candidates produce a portfolio of work from a starting point, topic or theme of their own choice. The focus is on including work that shows exploration, research and acquisition of techniques and skills. This portfolio includes a written Related Study that extend the student’s practical portfolio of work and shows a historical and contextual understanding. Controlled Assignment—40% Candidates select one starting point from the examination paper issued in February. Prior to the 15 hour practical examination, students are given the opportunity to plan and develop a sketchbook of preparatory studies to support the development of their final piece.
