Art and Design (Textiles)

Course summary

Designed to encourage an individual creative response through personal expression of ideas and feelings, the Textile Design course is approached from an art-based perspective. Students will be introduced to a variety of experiences exploring a range of textile media, techniques and processes. Students will work in one or more areas of Textile Design which can include fashion, printed and/or dyed fabric and materials, domestic textiles and wallpaper, interior design, constructed textiles and textile installation. Drawing will be explored using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales, using sketchbooks/workbooks/journals to underpin work where appropriate and showing an understanding of the four assessment objectives.
