
The A Level Chemistry course aims to encourage candidates to: develop their interest in and enthusiasm for chemistry, including developing an interest in further study and careers in chemistry; appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society; develop and demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of how science works; develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of chemistry and how they relate to each other.
It is required that candidates have either GCSE Chemistry at grade 7 or GCSE Combined Trilogy at grade 8-7. It is preferable that candidates will also have a grade 7 in Mathematics at GCSE.
Paper 1 - Inorganic Chemistry with relevant physical chemistry (+ relevant practical skills) - 120 minutes 105 marks- 35%. Paper 2 - Organic Chemistry with relevant physical chemistry (+ relevant practical skills) - 120 minutes 105 marks- 35%. Paper 3 - All content and all practical skills- 120 minutes 90 marks- 30%
