Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in ICT
Great Baddow High School

Course summary
This qualification is for students who prefer to study IT in a context which allows them to learn and be assessed in ways that are practical and relevant to the IT sector. This qualification is not just about being able to use computers but also how they work and how they are used in the modern world. Employers have told us that they need people who are able to help them develop their systems or the systems for their customers, use IT as a tool to analyse data and develop applications. Therefore, this qualification is designed to give students a range of specialist knowledge and transferable skills in the field context of applied IT, providing them with the opportunity to enter an apprenticeship, move directly into employment, or progress to a related HE course. Every unit achieved will be graded as pass, merit, or distinction and these will be added together to get the overall qualification grade at the end of the course. The course is structured so that you have one exam in year 12 and one in year 13. The coursework units are completed in lesson and study time over the two years and they provide students with an opportunity to put their learning into practice.
