Course summary

The course is a modular programme, offering the opportunity of an in depth study into the fashion and textile industry. Students will be instructed in many aspects of the fashion industry including: design and manufacture. They will also develop a range of skills including styling, marketing, basic pattern cutting and garment construction as they expand their knowledge base using traditional and contemporary techniques. Assignments are varied and creative covering; historical fashion influences, history of art, a range of cultures and the option for students to develop their own project briefs. All UAL students will complete a diagnostic first semester to include general arts skills e.g. drawing, presentation skills and introduction to basic equipment. Alongside the core fashion units they will study and develop skills in Design Principles and the use of computers within the fashion and creative industries.
