A-Level Biology

Course summary

To allow students to develop an interest in Biology, particularly in relation to related careers. To appreciate how Biology contributes towards the economy and society. To develop a deeper knowledge of how science works. To develop a deeper knowledge of the scope of Biology and how different areas interrelate with each other. This course involves both a theoretical and a practical approach. Relevant theory is reinforced where possible through experimentation. A large emphasis is placed on exam technique and past paper practice, which allows students to understand the requirement of both the course and its examinations. Individual coursework is no longer an assessed component of the course, however a large emphasis will still be placed on practical skills and these will be assessed in Paper 3.
