A-Level Art

Course summary

To respond to a set theme, through the exploration of different art forms, media, techniques and processes. To explore relevant images, resources and artists relevant to Art and Design and to respond to these through practical and critical outcomes, which demonstrate an understanding of different styles, theories, genres and techniques. Students will develop a practical and critical understanding of the formal elements of visual language (line, tone, pattern, design, form, perspective.) Students will respond to a given theme through; research, response and analysis of different Artists, Photographers and Designers, experimentation of different practical Art based techniques and development of ideas. Students will develop skills in drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, digital imaging, printing and sculpture. For both the coursework and the exam (externally set assignment), students will produce a portfolio of work and a minimum of one final outcome, that answers the given theme.
