The OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity is a full-time qualification, equivalent to three A Levels, that combines classroom learning with hands-on experience in sport and physical activity. You’ll study a range of topics including anatomy and physiology, sports psychology, fitness testing, coaching and leadership, nutrition, and how sport is organised and developed in the UK. You’ll build practical skills and gain confidence working both independently and as part of a team. At UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, you’ll benefit from our strong links with the sports industry, including partnerships with organisations such as Sheffield Hallam University, the English Institute of Sport, and professional clubs. These connections give you opportunities to work with experts, take part in real projects, and experience what it’s like to work in the world of sport. This qualification can lead to university courses in areas like sport and exercise science, coaching, physical education, physiotherapy, or sports management. It also opens up routes into jobs such as personal training, sports coaching, fitness instruction, and leisure management."
5 Grade 4 including English and Maths
Assessment Assessment is a mix of coursework and external exams. Most units are internally assessed through assignments such as written reports, practical activities, and presentations based on real sports situations. These are then externally moderated by the exam board (OCR) to make sure standards are consistent across all centres. A few key units are externally assessed through exams or set tasks. This mix of assessment methods allows you to show both your practical skills and theoretical understanding throughout the course.
