Course summary
The course will allow you: • To develop and build on the language and communication skills acquired at GCSE. • To enhance employment prospects. • To gain an insight into another culture and society. • To facilitate foreign travel. The course should help students to: • develop an interest in, and enthusiasm for language learning • develop an understanding of the language in a variety of contexts and genres • communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in the language for a range of purposes • develop an awareness and understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries or communities where French is spoken • consider their study of the language in a broader context • derive enjoyment and benefit from language learning • acquire knowledge, skills and understanding for practical use, further study and/or employment • communicate with speakers of the language • take their place in a multilingual global society. You can also follow different career paths, such as: Translator, Interpreter, Teacher, Journalist and Bilingual Secretary. You can also work in a variety of sectors like Business, Finance, Tourism, Media, Retail and many others.
