Course summary
Component 1: A Study of Religion: Christianity 1. There will be four themes within each option: 2. religious figures and sacred texts; 3. religious concepts and religious life; 4. significant social and historical developments in religious thought; 5. religious practices and religious identity. Learners will be expected to answer one question from Section A out of a choice of two and one question from Section B out of a choice of three in this component. Component 2: Philosophy of Religion There will be four themes within this component: 1. arguments for the existence of God; 2. challenges to religious belief; 3. religious experience; 4. religious language. Learners will be expected to answer one question from Section A out of a choice of two and one question from Section B out of a choice of three in this component. Component 3: Religion and Ethics There will be four themes within this component: 1. ethical language and thought; 2. deontological ethics; 3. teleological ethics; 4. freewill and determinism. Learners will be expected to answer one question from Section A out of a choice of two and one question from Section B out of a choice of three in this component.
