This course has been designed for students with an interest in music technology and production. The course is over 2 years and covers 5 units of work. 2 Mandatory units and 3 further units resulting in 360 guided learning hours. Mandatory Units. • DAW Production (using Logic Pro X and other industry applications) Externally assessed. • Music and Sound for Media- Internally assessed. Other Units • Mixing and Mastering Techniques- Internally assessed. • Commercial Music Production- Internally assessed. • Remixing and Reworking- Internally assessed. This course gives students a basis of study for the music production sector with a focus on music and sound for media and DAW production. This qualification will prepare learners for employment in the digital music production sector such as: • music producer • remixer • sound designer • music studio engineer • sound engineer • radio broadcaster engineer • audio visual technician • music editor for film There are many roles in this sector where recruitment is at graduate level. The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements for many relevant courses including: • BA (Hons) in Music Technology and Production • BA (Hons) in Sound Arts and Design • BA (Hons) in Digital Music and Sound Arts • BSc (Hons) in Music and Sound Production Technology. • BSc (Hons) in Sound Engineering and Production • BSc (Hons) in Live Sound Technology • BEng (Hons) in Audio Acoustics This course also provides good preparation for learners considering an apprenticeship in digital music production.
