
Further Mathematics A Level encourages students to develop logical and methodical thought, the ability to persevere with a task and to employ mathematics confidently in order to analyse and solve problems. Students cover modules in pure mathematics, mechanics and decision mathematics. The course involves teacher-directed lessons and exercises set for homework. Students are expected to work at their homework and to follow up difficulties that arise with it between lessons. Independent study commitment: Five hours per week minimum.
GCSE: 7 in Mathematics
Assessment: four examinations of one and a half hours. • Two Pure Maths exams (75 marks each) • One Further Mechanics exam (75 marks) • One Decision Maths exam (75 marks)
