Course summary
Physics at A Level will focus on particle physics, waves, mechanics, materials, electricity. Further mechanics, thermal physics, electric and magnetic fields, nuclear physics and an optional unit such as Astrophysics or Medical Physics. Whilst there will be plenty of practical tasks to be done throughout the course, there is no formal practical assessment. However students will be entered for the continuous assessment of practical skills. This requires the students to pass certain competencies. These competencies are a required skill for any student hoping to study a scientific subject at university. The criteria will be marked off from 12 practicals over the course of the two years, 6 from each year of the course. Students will also be set examination questions on these required practicals.
