Course summary

Studying English Literature can help you develop a variety of skills. You'll learn to analyse texts, connect them to other texts and historical events, and present your ideas with evidence. You'll also learn to write accurately and effectively about your reading, and to participate in discussions and presentations. English A-level teaches you to understand the human condition and empathise with people from different cultures and to appreciate the depth and power of English literature. You'll learn to handle complex ideas and search for patterns, as well as how to discuss big themes in society, such as what it means to be human, how to define good and evil, and the impacts of discrimination.
