Course summary

Geography is a broad academic subject, providing a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the world today and in the future. Many world issues depend on detailed geographical analysis, so it is useful in many walks of life. Some geographical skills and topics overlap with other subjects, therefore providing mutual support. Geography allows the science specialist to develop important literacy skills, as well as benefiting from an overlap in academic content. It allows the arts specialist to develop logical thought processes and an enquiring mind. Geography as a main subject avoids the problems of over-specialisation, which can result from a poor combination of A Level subjects.
