A Level History offers a rich and diverse exploration of British and world history, focusing on key events, figures, and turning points that shaped modern society. You will develop valuable skills in research, critical analysis, and essay writing. Key areas of study include: • British History: The Wars of the Roses and the rise of the Tudor dynasty (1445-1509). • Non-British History: The Russian Revolution (1894 -1941). • Thematic Study: The changing nature of warfare from the French Revolutionary Wars to World War II (1792-1945). • Independent Dissertation: An in-depth research project on Mao’s China (1949-1976), allowing you to choose your own essay question and conduct independent research. In some cases, there may be the opportunity for very able students to choose their own topic for this study.
