Assessment
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. BTEC Sport - Equivalent in size to one A Level. 4 units - 2 external (exam) and 2 internal (coursework). Units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction * (D*), Distinction (D), Merit (M), Pass (P). Distinction = A at A Level. • Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology (Year 12) - Written examination set and marked by Pearson. 1.5 hours, 80 marks. • Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry (Year 12) - A written piece of coursework internally assessed. Wellbeing (Year 13) - A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions. 2.5 hours. Written submission, 60 marks. • Unit 4: Sport Psychology and Leadership (Year 13) - A written piece of coursework internally assessed. This unit looks at what it is like to be a leader and asks students to explore different leaders within the sporting world, managers, first aiders, personal trainers etc. Students will look at the different leadership styles and compare them. They will then get the chance to be a leader themselves and put what they have learnt into practice by running sports events for young people. In the past, people have lead PE lessons, run sports days, held interform competitions etc. You can choose!
