History
The Douay Martyrs Catholic School
Course summary
The value of history is to develop a deeper understanding of the way past events continue to impact the world we live in today. The study of A-Level History will not only give students a global view of the past as we investigate events in England, Europe, Africa and South-East Asia, but it also enables our students to develop key skills that will translate to the world of work, such as analysis, evaluation, inference and research. By looking at historical interpretations and contemporary sources, our students reach their own conclusions about the relative significance of groups, individuals and events of the past. History equips us to better understand geopolitics, as well as the skills that are much sought after in the workplace. We will further develop our study through visits to the British Museum and revision study days.
