Assessment
Component 1: Recording • 20% of the course. Record, edit, and mix a professional-quality recording of a song, capturing at least 5 separate instruments. Component 2: Technology-based Composition • 20% of the course. Create a composition using production techniques and audio manipulation, based on a brief. Component 3: Listening and Analysing • 25% of the course. Written exam on the history, development, and use of music technology (1950s–present). Includes critical listening questions. Component 4: Producing and Analysing • 35% of the course. Practical exam where you will manipulate audio and MIDI to complete production tasks and answer analytical questions. Questions will include: set work analysis with a score, extended responses on a wider context, unprepared extracts of music with and without a score and comparison questions. This component includes listening questions.
