Course summary

Geography is a dynamic subject that develops a wide variety of valuable skills, including communication, numeracy, data analysis, problem solving and the presentation of information using maps, graphics and statistics. Fieldwork is central to the course, offering the chance to study the real world through first-hand experience. A highlight is the annual week of fieldwork in Yr Wyddfa (Snowdonia), where you will investigate geographical issues in both physical and human environments. Geography integrates the sciences and the arts. It allows science specialists to apply their knowledge to topics in physical geography while developing literacy, and arts specialists to strengthen their numeracy and graphical skills. This balance helps you avoid over-specialisation and makes Geography an excellent partner subject with both science and humanities A Levels. Studying Geography opens up a wide range of career options. Geographers can be found in areas such as environmental management, planning, government, finance, travel, tourism, retail and international development.
