Course summary

Classical Civilisation is a fascinating and wide-ranging subject exploring the literature, history, philosophy and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. You do not need to know any ancient languages, as all texts are studied in translation, and you can begin the course with no prior knowledge. All that is required is an interest in the ancient world. Studying Classics develops transferable skills such as critical thinking, analysis, evaluation and independent research, which are highly valued by universities and employers. It naturally complements subjects such as History, English, Politics, Religious Studies and Art, and is particularly well regarded by Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
